Dear Joe,
We feel fortunate that our girls are able to have a well-rounded schedule of music, sports, and other activities, that will enrich their lives as (we hope), someday wonderful stay at home moms. Who do you thinks will staff the crucial positions in the future, like Ladies Day Chairman at the Country Club or Junior League President and Room Mother for our children’s classes?
And this is not just one woman’s opinion. I was so mad I asked everyone I encountered all weekend, to make certain it applied across all sections of society.
We all agree that the facts speak for themselves. A child raised by a competent nanny or at least an Au Pare, has a huge advantage over children in the hands of untrained parents. Also, a child kept occupied with a full schedule of the three C’s, (Clubs, Competitions, and Cotillions) will be far more prepared for the rigors of boarding school, when the time comes.
I hope you find this illuminating, and more in line with your average reader. I would also appreciate it if you would be more considerate of people’s feelings, before printing such a negative piece in the future.
Signed,
Offended Reader.
Dear Offended Reader,
As sorry as we are to hear our editor angered you it seems that possibly you found insult in it simply because it hit home. Nobody can or should spend every moment with their children. The outside interaction is good not only for the child but also for the parent. I think the simple point is there should be a balance.
If you would be interested in writing a counterpoint piece please submit it to email@urjoe.com.

Dear Joe,
You know what you should do? You should…..
Dear Reader,
Sorry to interrupt, but yes, we do know what we should do. We get suggestions all the time, both good and bad. We use a few of the good ones, and try to have sense enough to ignore the bad ones. (Example: Dear Joe, for your Easter Cover, you should do “The Last Supper” with Jesus passing around a Joe coffee cup. That would be classic!”)
Our response to most story suggestions is, “Why don’t YOU write it?” You don’t have to be a professional to write for us. You just have to have something to say, and who doesn’t. So sit down, organize your thoughts, and send it in. Unless it’s slanderous or hateful, we’ll most likely run it.
Joe
