When we set up the Regular Joe offices at 117 South 7th in St. Joseph, I found we shared the front door with another business.
I recognized the name Caregivers, and remembered that this organization had provided services for my grandmother in the last years of her life. For the last month or so I have been smiling and saying hi to various medical looking people in hospital scrub clothes as I come and go, but I thought a “Meet the Neighbors” assignment might give me a better understanding of what they do.
I first met Lisa Clark, the Administrative Director, who explains that Caregivers offers medical assistance after surgery or during recovery from an illness, as well as long term care for all ages. They also can provide help with housework, cooking and shopping.
“The compassionate care we give our clients goes above and beyond what may be found elsewhere.” Lisa tells me.
The staff includes Registered Nurses, LPNs, Certified Nurse Aids, Personal Care Attendants, Homemakers and Companions; all providing what is known as “Home Care”. Every staff member is fully insured, bonded and specially trained for the type of care they provide.
Receiving these kinds of services makes the difference in many clients being able to remain in their own homes.
A strong reputation of quality care results in a continually expanding client base. Misty Beers, Homecare Coordinator, is always looking to add dependable, conscientious people to the staff. Flexible, full and part time, schedules are available for a variety of skill levels. She has found that active individuals retiring at an early age are often a good fit. Interested applicants can apply in person or can visit their website at www.givingcare.net.
With affordable services available from two to twenty-four hours daily, seven days a week including holidays, clients have many options to pay for the care they receive. Some pay for services themselves or through private insurance. Others receive assistance through Medicaid, Title 19 and Social Services Block Grant Services. Every potential client is offered a free care assessment to determine what services are appropriate and what financial options are available.
I had no idea that Caregivers offered services to such a large area. In fact regional care is offered in 11 area counties from their offices in St. Joseph.
So, whether you are caring for a loved one and need some relief, or maybe you could use some assistance yourself, I would recommend Caregivers Home Care. Give them a call at 816-279-1010 or toll free at 1-800-279-1013.
We at The Regular Joe encourage other local business people to try our “Meet the Neighbors” program. Get to know the people who work around you and tell us about their business. Try it! It’s fun.
